Understanding dermatitis

Dermatitis is an inflammation of the skin that results in itching , redness , scabs or hair loss .

They are often linked to an internal imbalance of metabolism (change in diet, seasonal transition, overfeeding in the spring).

This sensitized terrain makes the skin more reactive, warmer and more attractive to insects, which then aggravate the reaction.

Ozone, with its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties, helps the skin regain its natural balance , while providing lasting relief from irritations.

DERMATITIS

Summer dermatitis

Summer dermatitis is an internal reaction of the body.

In spring, the diet changes: young, rich and sweet grass alters the digestive and metabolic balance of the horse.

This overload can cause a skin reaction: the skin heats up, itches, thickens — especially on the mane, tail and sometimes the back.

The insects then come and bite these already weakened areas, worsening the itching.

The aim of ozone therapy is to calm itching , cleanse the skin , and promote its natural regeneration .

DERMATITIS

Dermatitis (irritative, allergic or infectious)

Dermatitis encompasses various skin irritations caused by:

  • humidity or perspiration,
  • the friction of the material,
  • a contact allergy,
  • or a secondary microbial infection.

Symptoms: redness, scabs, oozing or thickened areas.

Ozone Skin Guard helps to rebalance the skin , stop itching and prevent secondary infections .

dermite âne et mulet

dermite estivale cheval traitement naturel

traitement naturel dermite cheval

Dermite estivale poney

Natural treatment protocol for dermatitis

Ozone-based treatment acts as a natural antiseptic , mild anti-inflammatory , and skin regeneration stimulant .
No other product should be combined with it to avoid interfering with its action.

The steps of the protocol

  1. Cleaning (only if necessary)

→ Clean the skin only if it has debris, dirt or mud on it .
→ Simply use lukewarm water , without soap or antiseptic.
→ It is not necessary to dry completely before treatment.
→ On large areas (chest, back, flanks), it is even advisable to leave the skin slightly damp : this facilitates the spreading of the ozonated oil, which is naturally viscous.

  2. Application of Ozone Skin Guard

→ Apply a thin layer to irritated or itchy areas .
Do not massage vigorously : the product will adhere and diffuse on its own.
→ For areas with dense hair (mane, tail, chest), use the cannula of the bottle to apply the product as close as possible to the skin , under the hair.
→ Frequency: 1 to 2 times per day until improvement, then space out as needed.

  3. Stabilization and prevention phase

→ Continue regular applications to strengthen the skin barrier.
→ Start preventively in the spring , before the first heat and itching.
→ On horses prone to this condition, maintenance 2 to 3 times/week helps to avoid relapses.

  4. Support measures

→ Adjust the ration: avoid excessive sugars, starches, and overly rich grass. → Maintain a clean, dry, and well-ventilated environment. → In case of a flare-up, a light anti-dermatitis blanket can be used temporarily , but only as needed . Prolonged use of blankets is not recommended: they can trap moisture, irritate the skin, and hinder skin respiration.

After

Before/After treatment protocol for dermatitis

After a few days:

  • The itching is decreasing.
  • the skin returns to its normal appearance.
  • the hair grows back healthier,

and the crises become more spaced out and milder from one season to the next.

Summer dermatitis is of internal origin, not solely related to insects.

Ozone Skin Guard soothes, cleanses and naturally regenerates the skin.

The product can be applied to slightly damp skin for better diffusion.

The cannula allows access to the skin under the mane and dense hair.

Blankets can help temporarily, but should never be used continuously.
